Let’s Talk About Music

My favourite band just released a new record

“Carry On My Wayward Son…There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more”

Every Supernatural fan will scream if they hear this song playing somewhere. They will not recognize the band: KANSAS, but the legacy this song carried for fifteen seasons. It means Family. A chapter ending. The blood, the sacrifices, the pain, the joy, the tears, the adventures, the love, and the peace. Funny curiosity: Every karaoke (in conventions) ends with that song.

If you read my last post, you realized I want to turn this blog into something more personal, rather than be the conventions and experiences I do. Last week I introduced my readers to my clothing brand: DUSK RIDERS APPAREL and talked about the 3rd anniversary and the new Halloween collection I just released.

This week I want to talk about one of my other BIG passions: MUSIC.

One of the things I love about Supernatural is the soundtrack. I have loved Rock N’ Roll forever, and when I started to watch the show I was immersed in great ol’ classics. I became hooked - not only the boys are hot and the story was amazing…but the music added to the show…something very special and unique.

I don’t know if this happens to just me, but there are certain songs that when I am listening… make me travel to certain scenes on the show. And this happens to me with 90% of songs on my playlist; scenes of MY LIFE. For every convention I did until now I have a particular song that makes me remember and travel back to that event.

Let me write:

DLC4 - The Show Must Go On - Queen // Enemy - Imagine Dragons

I signed up to sing the Queen’s song above, my personal favorite ever, but unfortunately they picked another, so I just kept remembering all the lyrics and listening to the song. “Enemy” was the song the organization chose to play in the breaks when the panels ended.

Purcon6 - Zombie - The Cranberries // 99 Luftballons - Nena

I sang “Zombie” at this con, and people told me I rocked, it is a very particular and unique song to achieve (I admire her voice). 99 Luftballons was a song I didn’t know until this con, apparently, they had it in other editions. I didn’t like it at first, but it grew on me.

DLC5 - It’s My Life - Bon Jovi // Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas

I sang the Bon Jovi song with a friend, and we danced and sang loud at karaoke. It is a special song to me because that was the band that introduced me to Rock when I was a child. At the end of the Karaoke, everyone went to the stage to sing together the epic song of SUPERNATURAL.

Creation Atlanta - The Devil Went Down To Georgia - The Charlie Daniels Band

Simple: I wasn’t expecting to sing at Creation, but I did. And it’s one of my favorite songs. My dad showed me at a time I was rewatching Supernatural (we were just testing the record player) and I was on Lucifer’s episodes (S13 I believe) so I was hooked (plus I dig country). Mark couldn’t make it to Atlanta (he was sad actually, we talked in the morning and he wasn’t gonna be there so…) I’m glad I called the Devil singing this song (somehow).

Basingstoke CC - Shed a Little Light - Paul Carella & Billy Moran

In the break waiting for JDM panel, I was with Mark and we were just talking after I spotted Paul Carella, I showed Mark this song (I was and still am addicted to it). So Mark held my iPhone listening to the song. We were just rock n’ rolling together.

Supernatural SF - Livin’ la Vida Loca - Ricky Martin // Ex’s & Oh’s - Elle King

I don’t know why but Livin’ la Vida Loca was epic on karaoke at this con, I became addicted to it after. The boys put up the best karaoke I attended. And funny thing…I love Elle King and was hooked on that song before the con! So when I heard that was the next one…I was one of the few that knew the lyrics.

I use music all the time in my life. My describe moments in my life, I work with music all the time, when I clean…when I cook and organize stuff. Music is life. I don’t function in silence, in fact, I play my music loud, it is the only way I can thrive and work fast.

Until now I have been hooked on a few bands, when I say hooked I mean…addicted for years. Some made part of a huge deal/phase in my life. When I was a teenager, Slayer, Children of Bodom, Rammstein, and Dream Theater were very important to me. But then I went to another phase, I left the “metal” world and explored other music genres. But it didn’t last long, before I returned to my ol’ self - that is basically ME. Rock N’ Roll was always my thing. I always loved “The Rolling Stones” (before my metal phase), that is and forever be the most important band for me.

And four years ago I discovered GHOST and HALESTORM. They became a part of me as well, and I think along with the Stones they will be with me forever. In fact, I discovered Halestorm in Supernatural! They had a song from them at the beginning of an episode “I am the Fire”, I loved her voice so much that I immediately saved and explored it on Spotify. Ghost…was before. A friend and I got together many times just to talk about music and go to concerts. He told me he was heading to Ghost and showed me a couple of songs, that’s when I became obsessed. And On top of that they are against religion, and worship Satan ;) Interesting right? ha! Lucifer is an inspiration for them.

I’m going to see Halestorm live on their European tour in December, in my city and I have a M&G! I’m going to meet a band I love. It’s gonna be epic.

If you had to pick bands to describe you, what would you pick?

What are your next concerts?

What bands do you love in the Supernatural soundtrack?

If you have SPOTIFY you can check my “All time favorites” playlist and other playlists I have here:
