What Is So Special About Cons?

"Are you going to do another con?!" "Rose how many cons are going to do?!" "Are you rich because you can't stop doing conventions!!" "Don't you bore yourself to death after doing the same thing over and over again?"

"Again?"

Yes, again. And honestly, it was an addiction that kept growing. At first, I didn't understand why or what was happening. I think the people that attend cons, in general, suffer from this condition - I will call it - Condependant. Almost as...Codependent. You know a person that has unhealthy relationships, and relies too much on another.

Is it what is happening to us?

Not not.

This Supernatural phenomenon (I'm going there because so far I JUST DID SPN cons) it's something that is big and unites us all. It is not just a show, of two brothers that hunt evil and suddenly find themselves in the apocalypse, it is more than that. And with conventions, it is the same thing.

I think we can all agree that this is because we find a connection with this show for starters. So it starts because we love the show we are watching, it has comedy, the love of two brothers, a family that keeps growing and it is MORE than BLOOD. Helping people...we also learn a lot about lore, and good music (hail rock n' roll), and ok the car is not so bad looking right? When we find a connection with something we tend to google or read about it right? The next step is following everything around the fandom, and suddenly when you least expect BUM you start to make friends in this fandom. Some even start to work on projects about the show, conventions, etc! Name it!

I had no idea that conventions were a thing in the beginning. I discovered this when I started to go on Youtube and explore videos and stuff from my favorite characters. It was a world I found myself deeply immersed in.

The Supernatural Phenomenon is family. That is why it is called "SPNFamily". The cast also created tons of projects charities, podcasts, books...They helped us and we helped them.

So if you ask me why do you go to conventions in the first place?

I won't lie. I started because I mainly wanted to meet the cast, especially Mark Pellegrino, Mark Sheppard, Richard Speight Jr, Louden Swain, and the boys. I love them all, but if you read my blog and you know me - you know my connection and friendship with Mark Pellegrino. So he was the reason why I started to do these cons.

And it was also because of him I met all of these wonderful people that are my friends, and other members of the cast brought and started to bring me new people, so my SPNFamily is even bigger now than it was 3 years ago!

And that was the primary reason. Because now I do them because I have lots of friends that I can only meet at these events, which is heartbreaking truly.

And the third best thing...is traveling. That is my biggest passion. Nothing brings me more happiness than traveling (perhaps food ok) so when I chose conventions now I tend to pick locations I have never been to before so I get to do both of the things.

I have a lot of "convention" adrenaline during the event; sometimes I barely stop to eat or drink water. It is really weird. And suddenly when it ends it all comes crashing down. Our bodies experience happiness and these butterflies in our stomachs and when I am nervous...I stop being hungry which is very unusual for me. This adrenaline comes from different aspects, for those who know me know exactly what I am talking about. There's always someone in the room that has the power to make you jelly.

Am I answering the question though? Reader if you didn't understand yet I will have to be extremely objective:

Conventions are special because we found in this fandom a family, a connection with a show and people, travel and build stories, create experiences, laugh, and have the best times. Isnt' enough?

So I will keep doing them until in my heart I say it is enough.

I don't know when to stop because I don't want to.

Wheres the fun in that?
