Packing for a Convention

What type of packer are you? The stressed one that leaves everything last minute and packs a few hours before the flight? (Yep, that’s me). Or you prefer to do it with time a week before? Or maybe even two weeks?

This time I decided to pack a few days before. Well at least trying to organize better ha! It’s hard for me, because as a freelancer I’m always constantly working, and my mind also doesn’t shut up, and sometimes I work better packing the day before. But I’m deciding to do things differently for my own good sake.

Let’s dive into my bag and discover what I pack:

  1. First of all – camera stuff. Since I’m a photographer, I always take care of the work gear as a priority. iPad and iPhone charges also come in this part. Lens + batteries + charges – check. Since I don’t edit during conventions, I’ll leave my external devices at home resting (they appreciate the vacations and my brain too).

  2. Socks, panties, bras…belts, and all the accessories I wanna bring with me.

  3. Hygienic stuff I always leave for last – since I always fly for cons, before leaving I pack the ultimate stuff I need (brush teeth, toothpaste, hairdryer, etc).

  4. The part that I hate the most…is making my outfits. I’m a girl that LOVES fashion. So I always program my outfits a few days before, but thanks to work and the fact that I barely have time to breathe, I choose in a bit of a hurry. But as a fashion addicted, I bought some new clothes I’ll bring to this con!

  5. I always travel with my backpack from Herschel Supply Co. + a tote bag + a cabin bag.

  6. My convention dossier couldn’t be left out, right? I’ll need it for autographs and to save my new photo ops!

  7. Gifts. I’m a giver…so gifts are a common thing for me.

  8. I carry a book to read on the flight and my headphones. And a notebook to take note of the content I want to create. Usually, I use my iPad or iPhone to take note of the conventions.

  9. My cowboy hats ALWAYS travel with me.

  10. Depending on the weather, I also carry one of two jackets. Since cons usually happen in cold cities…I always go with one.

  11. And last, makeup! I carry a bag full of any kind of makeup, a girl has her needs.

What do you pack?

For being in the convention I’ll leave some notes of important stuff for all people:

  1. The panel room is cold – bring a jacket

  2. Snacks are important and water

  3. Start to build a dossier/folder with your photo ops – it will be easier for you

  4. Tissues and hand sanitizer is helpful

  5. Cards and cash

  6. Makeup retouch (lipstick or concealer) if you wear make-up like me

  7. Comfortable shoes

Hope these tips are good for you. If you have more tips, make sure to comment.

And let’s rock!
